§ 5-10-8-26 — Coverage for wearable cardioverter defibrillators

(a)As used in this section, "state employee
health plan" means a:
(1)self-insurance program established under section 7(b) of this
chapter; or
(2)contract with a prepaid health care delivery plan entered into
under section 7(c) of this chapter;
to provide group health coverage for state employees.
(b)As used in this section, "wearable cardioverter defibrillator"
means a device that:
(1)is worn externally on an individual's body;
(2)continually monitors and analyzes the individual's heart
rhythm; and
(3)delivers a shock to the heart when an abnormal heart rhythm
is detected.
(c)A state employee health plan must provide coverage for
wearable cardioverter defibrillators, including the cost of the wearable
cardioverter defibrillator, any necessary accessory, and ongoing
monitoring serv
