Text
(a)The following terms are defined for this
section:
(1)"Acknowledgment" has the meaning set forth in IC 33-42-0.5-2.
(2)"Notarial officer" has the meaning set forth in IC 33-42-0.5-19.
(b)A notarial officer who, with intent to defraud, knowingly or
intentionally:
(1)affixes a person's signature to a blank affidavit or certificate
of acknowledgment; and
(2)delivers that affidavit or certificate to another person;
with the intent that it be used as an affidavit or acknowledgment
commits notary fraud, a Level 6 felony.
(c)A person who knowingly or intentionally uses an affidavit or
certificate described in subsection (b) for any purpose commits notarial
fraud, a Level 6 felony.
