Text
(a)As used in this section, "certified copy of
a certificate of title" means a document that is:
(1)a copy of a certificate of title for a motor vehicle, by whatever
name designated, that is issued by the bureau of motor vehicles or
a governmental entity in another state;
(2)prepared from a record of the governmental entity issuing the
certificate of title; and
(3)certified by the officer having legal custody of the record
described in subdivision (2) or the officer's deputy.
(b)In a criminal proceeding, a certified copy of a certificate of title
is prima facie evidence of the ownership of a motor vehicle.
