Text

(a)An income payor that:
(1)discharges from employment an obligor;
(2)refuses to employ an obligor;
(3)takes disciplinary action against an obligor employed by the income payor; or
(4)otherwise discriminates against an obligor; because of the existence of an income withholding order or the obligations imposed upon the income payor by the income withholding order, is subject to a penalty not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000) payable to the state and recoverable in a civil action. An obligor or the Title IV-D agency may bring an action to enforce a penalty under this subsection.
(b)The collection of money under this section does not affect:
(1)the obligor's right to damages under IC 24-4.5-5-202; or
(2)any other legal remedy available to the obligor; because of discharge from
