§ 30-4-10-30 — "State"
As used in this chapter, "state" means:
(1)a state of the United States;
(2)the District of Columbia;
(3)Puerto Rico;
(4)the United States Virgin Islands; or
(5)a territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of
the United States.
