Text
(a)As used in this section, "insurer" means:
(1)an issuer of an accident and sickness insurance policy; or
(2)a third party administrator of health benefits and services
under an accident and sickness insurance policy.
(b)The electronic data base by which an insurer allows an insured
or a provider to verify an insured's coverage or benefits under an
accident and sickness insurance policy issued or administered by the
insurer must include the following information for each insured:
(1)Whether health benefits and services under the accident and
sickness insurance policy are provided by:
(A)the issuer of the accident and sickness insurance policy; or
(B)a third party administrator.
(2)Whether the accident and sickness insurance policy is subject
to state or federal regulation.
