Text

(a)A notice of cancellation of a policy to which section 4 of this chapter applies is not effective:
(1)unless it is mailed by the insurer to the named insured at least twenty (20) days prior to the effective date of cancellation; or
(2)if the cancellation is for nonpayment of premium, unless it is:
(A)mailed by the insurer to the named insured at least ten (10) days before the effective date of cancellation; and
(B)accompanied by a written statement of the reason for the cancellation.
(b)If a policy was procured by an independent insurance producer duly licensed by the state of Indiana, notice of intent to cancel the policy shall be mailed to the independent insurance producer at least ten (10) days prior to the mailing of the notice of cancellation to the named insured under subsec
