Text

1. As used in this chapter, "urgent health care service" means a health care service in which the application of the time period for making a nonexpedited prior authorization, in the opinion of a physician with knowledge of the covered individual's medical condition, could:

(1)seriously jeopardize:
(A)the life or health of the covered individual; or
(B)the covered individual's ability to regain maximum function; or
(2)subject the covered individual to severe pain that cannot be adequately managed without the health care service. The term includes a mental and behavioral health care service.
