§ 27-1-35-3 — "Captive insurer" defined

As used in this chapter, "captive insurer" means an insurance company owned by another organization whose exclusive purpose is to insure risks of the parent organization and affiliated companies, or in the case of groups and associations, insurance organizations owned by the insureds whose exclusive purpose is to insure risks of any of the following:
(1)Member organizations.
(2)Group members and their affiliates.
(3)Member organizations and group members and their affiliates.
