5.
(a)The board may adopt rules requiring
a professional engineer to obtain continuing education for renewal of
a certificate under section 17 of this chapter.
(b)If the board adopts rules under this section, the rules must do the
following:
(1)Establish an inactive certificate of registration that:
(A)does not require the holder of an inactive certificate to
obtain continuing education; and
(B)prohibits the holder of an inactive certificate from
practicing engineering.
(2)Establish requirements for reactivation of an inactive
certificate.
