§ 20-50-1-2 — Office of coordinator for education of homeless children; establishment; duties

(a)The department shall establish an office of
coordinator for education of homeless children as required by 42
U.S.C. 11431 et seq.
(b)The primary responsibilities of the office of coordinator for
education of homeless children include the following:
(1)Gather and make publicly available reliable, valid, and
comprehensive information on homeless children and youths.
(2)Develop and carry out the state plan under the
McKinney-Vento Act.
(3)Collect and transmit to the department a report containing the
information that the department determines is necessary to assess
the educational needs of homeless children and youths.
(4)Coordinate activities and collaborate with educators and social
service providers regarding the McKinney-Vento Act.
(5)Provide technical assistance to and conduct
