§ 20-37-2-7 — Cooperative programs with employers

(a) A school corporation, through the school
corporation's appropriate officials, may enter into cooperative programs
with employers. These programs must include an agreement by the
employer to provide employment for students enrolled in school
directed career and technical education to learn the manipulative skills
or manual processes of an occupation.
(b) The employer may employ the students in otherwise restricted
occupations for the purpose of career and technical education under the
following conditions:
(1) That training in the occupation is approved by a proper school
authority and is school supervised.
(2) That safety instructions are given by the school and integrated
with on-the-job training by the employer.
(3) That the student is assigned to competent adults designated by
the employer for instruction and supervision in the manipulative
skills or manual processes of the occupation according to a
written training schedule developed by the employer and a
representative of the school.
