5.

(a)In adopting Core 40 curriculum models under this chapter, the state board shall consider math course requirements other than Algebra II. Any math course requirements adopted for the Core 40 curriculum models must be at a level of difficulty that aligns with postsecondary preparation.
(b)If a school offers a math course developed under subsection (a), a parent of a student and the student who intends to enroll in the course must provide consent to the school to enroll in the course. The consent form used by the school, which shall be developed by the state board in collaboration with the commission for higher education, must notify the parent and the student that enrollment in the course may affect the student's ability to attend a particular postsecondary educational institution or
