§ 20-23-7-10 — Metropolitan superintendent of schools appointment; terms of contracts; term of office; duties of board

(a)The metropolitan board of education shall appoint a metropolitan superintendent of schools who shall serve under contract in the same manner and under the same laws that govern the employment and service of other licensed school personnel. However, the metropolitan superintendent of schools is not required to hold a license under IC 20-28-5. The metropolitan superintendent of schools' salary and expense allowance is fixed by the metropolitan board of education. The metropolitan superintendent of schools' original contract:
(1)must be for a period of one (1) to five (5) years; and
(2)may be changed or extended by mutual agreement.
(b)Appointments to fill a vacancy for a metropolitan superintendent of schools shall be made under this chapter.
(c)The board shall:
