§ 12-26-16-1 — Request by subject individual or other interested party; establishing guardianship instead of making commitment
At the request of the individual who is the
subject of a proceeding under this article or another interested party,
the court may establish a guardianship for the individual or the
individual's property instead of making or continuing a regular
commitment to a facility under IC 12-26-7 or at any other time.
