(a)Before December 1, 2021, the office shall apply to the United States Department of Health and Human Services for an amendment to the state Medicaid plan that would require reimbursement by:

(1)the office; or

(2)a contractor of the office; for eligible Medicaid rehabilitation option services provided by a behavioral health professional or other behavioral health professional authorized to provide Medicaid services working in a community mental health center for any Medicaid eligible recipient who is undertaking initial assessment, intake, or counseling in a community mental health center before the development of a plan of treatment. This subsection expires December 31, 2021.

(b)A community mental health center shall commence a plan of treatment within two (2) weeks for a Medicaid re
