§ 10-18-2-2 — Authority to erect memorials; county authority to erect memorials jointly
(a)A county may through its county executive
acquire by:
(1)purchase;
(2)donation; or
(3)condemnation;
suitable real estate to construct and maintain structures to
commemorate the bravery, courage, valor, and sacrifice of the soldiers,
sailors, and marines of the United States and of all others who rendered
faithful, loyal, heroic, and self-sacrificing service at home or overseas
in World War I.
(b)At a world war memorial, a county may do the following:
(1)Provide a place for meetings and headquarters for
organizations of active or retired military personnel or any other
patriotic associations.
(2)Provide storage for the keeping of records, archives,
documents, flags, mementos, and relics.
(3)Provide space for public meetings and for other public
purposes.
