Text
The department may establish, operate, and
make necessary contributions to a mortality reserve account for the
payment of supplementary death benefits to deceased employee
beneficiaries. However, a supplementary death benefit may not exceed
twenty thousand dollars ($20,000). The department may not use a
deceased employee beneficiary's retirement date with the department
as a factor in determining the amount of the deceased employee
beneficiary's supplementary death benefit.
