The second Wednesday in May of each year is designated as Mother Mary Ann Bickerdyke Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day set apart to honor Mother Mary Ann Bickerdyke of Galesburg, military nurses, and the contribution of nurses to the State of Illinois and the United States of America.
