Text

Fines for offenses involving theft, deceptive practices, and offenses against units of local government or school districts.

(a)When a person has been adjudged guilty of a felony under Section 16-1, 16D-3, 16D-4, 16D-5, 16D-5.5, 17-1, 17-50, 17-51, 17-52, 17-52.5, or subsection (a) of Section 17-32 of the Criminal Code of 1961 or the Criminal Code of 2012, a fine may be levied by the court in an amount which is the greater of $25,000 or twice the value of the property which is the subject of the offense.
(b)When a person has been convicted of a felony under Section 16-1 of the Criminal Code of 1961 or the Criminal Code of 2012 and the theft was committed upon any unit of local government or school district, or the person has been convicted of any violation of Sections 33C-1 through 33C-4
