§ 11-64-1

Any municipality with a population of less than 500,000 may issue bonds for the purpose of constructing, acquiring, purchasing, improving, repairing or equipping a municipal hall or halls or any other municipal building or buildings used for any municipal purpose, including the acquisition of a site or sites therefor. The bonds shall be issued subject to the provisions of Sections 8-4-1, 8-4-2 and 11-64-2. These bonds may be issued in an amount which, including the existing municipal indebtedness, does not exceed the constitutional limitation as to debt, notwithstanding any legislative debt limitation to the contrary.
