§ 10-5-6

Whenever the legal voters of such city, village or incorporated town equal in number to 10% of the legal votes cast at the last preceding general municipal election petition the city, village or incorporated town clerk for the submission of the proposition as to whether such city, village or incorporated town, shall adopt the provisions of this Division 5, then such clerk shall certify the proposition accordingly, for submission at an election in accordance with the general election law, and if such proposition be not adopted at such election, the same may in like manner be submitted to any general municipal election thereafter.
