The corporate authorities of any municipality may require that all firefighters hired by the municipality on or after January 1, 2009 (the effective date of Public Act 95-935) be licensed as an EMT, EMT-I, A-EMT, or paramedic under the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act.
