§ 6-509

Whenever damages have been allowed for roads or ditches, the highway commissioner may draw orders on the treasurer, payable only out of the tax to be levied for such roads or ditches, when the money shall be collected or received, which orders shall bear interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date on which they are issued and may be disposed of by the highway commissioner in anticipation of the tax to be levied to pay same, provided that such orders shall not be disposed of at a discount. The highway commissioner, as soon as the tax levied for the payment of such orders is collected, shall notify the holder or holders thereof to offer same for payment; and such orders shall cease to draw any interest from and after the time that any holder thereof is notified that funds available fo
