§ 19 — Agreement State Status

Illinois·Topic HEALTH AND SAFETY·Ch. 420 NUCLEAR SAFETY·Act 420 ILCS 20/ Illinois Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Act.
The Governor, on behalf of this State, is authorized to enter into agreements with the federal government providing for discontinuance of certain of the federal government's responsibilities with respect to low level waste disposal. In accordance with P.L. 86-373, Section 274b of the Atomic Energy Act, and the Notice, published in the Federal Register, Vol. 46, No. 15, January 23, 1981, (7540-7546) "Criteria for Guidance of States and NRC in Discontinuance of NRC Regulatory Authority and Assumption thereof by States through Agreement", the Governor is hereby authorized to enter into Full or Limited Agreement State Status for Low Level Waste Disposal with the federal government for regulatory authority over radioactive byproduct, source and special nuclear material as defined in Section 11e
