(a) If a person receiving special educational services under Article 14 of the School Code at a school in this State has severe autism, severe mental illness, a severe or profound intellectual disability, or severe and multiple impairments and is not over 18 years of age but is otherwise eligible to participate in the Program, the person shall be determined eligible to participate in the Program, subject to the availability of funds appropriated for this purpose, when he or she becomes an adult and no longer receives special educational services. (b) The Department shall implement this Section for fiscal years beginning July 1, 1996 and thereafter.
