Text

(a)A surviving spouse annuity shall begin on the 1st day of the month next following the month in which the participating employee, or the employee annuitant or such person entitled to a retirement annuity died, upon a written application therefor, provided: 1. Any such annuity payments payable for periods beginning prior to the date the application was received by the Board shall not include interest based on late payment; and 2. The amount of surviving spouse annuity before the application of paragraph 3 of Section 7-158, is at least $5 per month, beginning on such date.
(b)A person receiving a surviving spouse annuity whose annuity was granted but limited to one year prior to the application date under the former provisions of this Section may reapply for annuity payments for the peri
