Text

Any teacher who retired prior to September 1, 1959 on a service retirement pension at age 55 or over with at least 15 years of validated service, or while under age 55 with at least 20 years of validated service, or any teacher retired for total and permanent disability who is aged 65 years or over, shall be entitled to receive the benefits of this Section beginning January 1, 1972, except that no teacher may receive increases in benefits under both this Section and Section 17-156.1. These benefits shall be the same as provided in Section 17-156.1, as amended, except that the yearly automatic annual increase to and including the calendar year 1971 shall be limited to 1 1/2%.
