Text
Any person holding a position in State service subject to the jurisdiction of the Department of Central Management Services, who is elected to State office in the State of Illinois, shall, upon request, be granted a leave of absence, without pay, from such position. Any employee of the Department of Corrections shall, upon request, be granted a leave of absence, without pay, to serve in an elected law enforcement position, including employees who were elected in 1994 or any subsequent year. Such leave of absence shall continue so long as he remains an elected State officer or in the elected law enforcement position and for a period of 30 days thereafter.
