The Director of Personnel may, with the approval of the Secretary of State, extend jurisdiction B to any unskilled position or positions, the principal job requirement of which is good physical condition. Employees in positions to which jurisdiction B is extended pursuant to this Section shall be continued in their respective positions provided that they pass a qualifying examination prescribed by the Director within 6 months after jurisdiction B is extended to such positions, and provided they satisfactorily complete their respective probationary periods. Such qualifying examinations shall be similar to those required for entrance examinations for comparable positions in the Office of the Secretary of State. Appointments of such employees shall be without regard to eligible lists.
