The board may erect, purchase or otherwise acquire buildings suitable for school houses, for school administration, and for deriving revenues from school lands, erect temporary school structures, erect additions to, repair, rehabilitate and replace existing school buildings and temporary school structures and may furnish and equip school buildings and temporary school structures and may purchase or otherwise acquire and improve sites therefor, the furnishing and equipping to include but not be limited to furniture, libraries, apparatus, building and architectural supplies, fixtures generally used in school buildings, including but not limited to heating and ventilating systems, mechanical equipment, seats and desks, blackboards, window shades and curtains, gymnasium and recreation apparatu
