The State Board of Education shall, consistent with adopted recognition standards, provide for levels of recognition or nonrecognition. The State Board of Education shall promulgate rules governing the procedures whereby school districts may appeal a recognition level. The State Board of Education shall have the authority to collect from schools and school districts the information, data, test results, student performance and school improvement indicators as may be necessary to implement and carry out the purposes of this Act and to implement and carry out the issuance of school improvement designations via the accountability system identified in Section 2-3.25a of this Code.
