Local school districts may establish, in cooperation with the State Board of Education, a model program for the provision of day care services in a school. The program shall be administered by the local school district and shall be funded from monies available from private and public sources. Student parents shall not be charged a fee for the day care services; school personnel also may utilize the services, but shall be charged a fee. The program shall be supervised by a trained child care professional who is qualified to teach students parenting skills. As part of the program, the school shall offer a course in child behavior in which students shall receive course credits for helping to care for the children in the program while learning parenting skills.
