In the cities, villages and incorporated towns in counties having a population of 500,000 or more, which are operating under this Article, the compensation of deputy registrars and judges of registration provided for the first registration under this Article and officers of registration appointed in conformity with Section 6-69 of this Article for subsequent registration shall be not less than $20 nor more than $30 per day. In cities, villages and incorporated towns in counties having a population of less than 500,000, and operating under this Article, the compensation of the deputy registrars and judges of registration provided for the first registration under this Article, and officers of registration appointed in conformity with Section 6-69 of this Article for subsequent registrations
