Text
An inmate employed in the community under this chapter is not an agent, employee, or
involuntary servant of the department of corrections or the board of parole while released
from confinement under the terms of a work release plan. If an inmate suffers an injury
arising out of or in the course of the inmate’s employment under this chapter, the inmate’s
recoveryshallbefromtheinsurancecarrieroftheemployeroftheprojectandnoproceedings
for compensation shall be maintained against the insurance carrier of the state institution or
the state and there is no employer-employee relationship between the inmate and the state
institution or the board of parole.
