Text
1.Except as provided in subsection 2, a person shall not operate a motor vehicle in any
of the following:
a.Any portion of a meandered stream.
b.Any portion of the bed of a nonmeandered stream which has been identified as a
navigable stream or river by rule adopted by the department and which is covered by water.
c.Any portion of a stream identified as a trout stream by the department.
2.This section does not prohibit the use of ford crossings of public or private roads or
any other ford crossing when used for agricultural purposes, the operation of construction
vehicles engaged in lawful construction, repair, or maintenance in a streambed, or the
operation of motor vehicles on ice.
3.The department of natural resources shall adopt rules identifying the navigable
