Text
If the petition is signed by a majority of the registered voters of the township residing
without the corporate limits of the city, the board of supervisors shall divide the township into
two townships, as petitioned; but, except for election purposes, including the appointment of
precinct election officials rendered necessary by the change, the division shall not take effect
until the first day of January following the next general election which is not a Sunday or a
legal holiday.
