In its order for the election the board of supervisors shall direct the county auditor to cause
notice of the election to be given by posting at least five copies of the notice in public places in
the proposed district at least twenty days before the date of election and by publication of the
notice once each week for three consecutive weeks in some newspaper of general circulation
published in the proposed district, or, if no such newspaper is published within the proposed
district, then in such a newspaper published in the county in which the major part of the
proposed district is located. The last publication is to be at least twenty days prior to the date
of election. The notice shall state the time and place of holding the election and the hours
when the polls will be open and closed
