216A.166 Office of Native American affairs. Repealed by 2024 Acts, ch 1170, §464. 216A.167 Limitations on authority.

1.The board and department shall not have the authority to do any of the following:
a.ImplementoradministerthedutiesofthestateofIowaunderthefederalIndianGaming Regulatory Act, shall not have any authority to recommend, negotiate, administer, or enforce any agreement or compact entered into between the state of Iowa and Indian tribes located in the state pursuant to section 10A.104, and shall not have any authority relative to Indian gaming issues.
b.Administer the duties of the state under the federal National Historic Preservation Act, the federal Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and chapter 263B. The board shall also not interfere with the advisor
