§ 50-19-1 — Establishment and operation of interagency motor pools; purchase of automobiles for state use; rules governing state vehicles

The Department of Administrative Services is authorized and empowered: (1) To establish and operate an interagency motor pool near the state capitol and to establish and operate motor pools at such other locations as may be desirable to promote efficient and economical use of passenger-carrying automobiles by officers, officials, or employees of the state and of the various offices, agencies, departments, boards, bureaus, commissions, institutions, authorities, or other entities of the state; (2) To purchase passenger-carrying automobiles for the use of officers, officials, or employees of the state and of the various offices, agencies, departments, boards, bureaus, commissions, institutions, authorities, or other entities of the state who are required to travel by automobile in performance of their official duties; and (3) To provide a system of billings for the use of motor vehicles in any motor pool operated by the Department of Administrative Services and to collect, retain, and carry over from year to year in a reserve fund any moneys collected for the use of such motor vehicles.
