Text
The commissioner of veterans service shall, in addition to the other duties provided in this chapter, maintain a women veterans' office. Such office shall conduct outreach to women veterans for the purpose of improving awareness of eligibility for federal and state veterans' benefits and services, conduct assessments of the specific needs of women veterans with respect to benefits and services, and review programs, research projects, and other initiatives designed to address or meet the specific needs of women veterans in this state. The women veterans' office shall work with veterans court divisions as provided for in Code Section 15-1-17 to assist with recruiting and training women veterans to serve as mentors for veterans participating in these court divisions.
