(a)The State Board of Education and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia shall promulgate and adopt rules and regulations to ensure that every student and teacher participating in or observing any of the following courses of instruction in any school, college, university, vocational-technical school, or other educational institution within this state shall wear appropriate industrial quality eye protective devices at all times while participating in or observing such courses of instruction:

(1)Vocational, technical, industrial arts, chemical, physical, or chemical-physical courses of instruction involving exposure to:

(A)Hot molten metal or other molten materials;

(B)Milling, sawing, turning, shaping, cutting, grinding, or stamping of any solid materials;

(a) The State Board of Education and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia shall promulgate and adopt rules and regulations to ensure that every student and teacher participating in or observing any of the following courses of instruction in any school, college, university, vocational-technical school, or other educational institution within this state shall wear appropriate industrial quality eye protective devices at all times while participating in or observing such courses of instruction: (1) Vocational, technical, industrial arts, chemical, physical, or chemical-physical courses of instruction involving exposure to: (A) Hot molten metal or other molten materials; (B) Milling, sawing, turning, shaping, cutting, grinding, or stamping of any solid materials; (C) Heat treatment, tempering, or kiln firing of any metal or other materials; (D) Gas or electric arc welding or other forms of welding processes; (E) Repair or servicing of any vehicle; or (F) Caustic or explosive materials; (2) Chemical, physical, or combined chemical-physical laboratories involving caustic or explosive materials, hot liquids or solids, injurious radiations, or other hazards; or (3) Such other courses as shall be determined by the state board or the board of regents. (b) The devices required by this Code section shall be furnished by the school, college, university, vocational-technical school, or other educational institution within this state for all students and teachers and shall be furnished for all visitors to such shops and laboratories, as provided by rules and regulations adopted by the state board and the board of regents.
