(a)A superintendent shall be appointed for each completion special school by the state board upon consideration of one or more recommendations from the State School Superintendent and such school's governing board.
(b)(1) The superintendent for each completion special school shall be employed by the governing board of such school under a written contract for a term of not less than one year and not more than three years.
(2)Any provision of any such contract which provides for an extension of the duration of employment thereunder, whether automatic or contingent upon the occurrence of one or more events, shall be void if that extension would result in employment under such contract, as extended, for a period which exceeds three years.
