The office may conduct an examination or investigation of a qualified limited service affiliate at any time that it deems necessary to determine whether the qualified limited service affiliate or financial institution-affiliated party thereof has violated, or is about to violate, any provision of this chapter, any applicable provision of the financial institutions codes, or any rule adopted by the commission pursuant to this chapter or the financial institutions codes. The office shall conduct an examination of each qualified limited service affiliate at least once every 18 months to assess compliance with this part and the financial institutions codes.
