(1)The provisions of this act shall be administered by the department through the state cadastral surveyor.

(2)The functions, duties, and responsibilities of the department shall be:

(a)To establish a program for identification, restoration, maintenance, and perpetuation of the public land survey corners.

(b)To provide for the extension and densification throughout the state of the federally initiated precise geodetic horizontal and vertical control networks, whereby these basic framework surveys shall be extended to survey corners identified under this program to permit the general use of the coordinate systems. The information derived from this work shall meet the standards established by the National Geodetic Survey in order to be accepted and published by the National Geodetic Sur

(c) To provide for entering into agreements or contracts with agencies of the United States Government, the State of Florida, or other states, and with surveyors and mappers in private practice and others, as are deemed necessary or desirable properly to plan and execute projects within the scope and purpose of this act, including the preparation of necessary cadastral documents, maps, and photogrammetric and geodetic control data. The department or its designated contracting agency, in contracting with surveyors and mappers for professional services, shall give due consideration to their experience and knowledge of local conditions and the history of each particular area involved in the execution of this act. (d) To act as a public repository of survey corner information.
