The carrier selected pursuant to § 5254 of this title may determine the eligibility of a participating employee to receive short-term and/or long-term disability benefits. Such carrier shall also provide short-term and long-term disability benefits to eligible employees, and shall administer both the short and long-term disability programs established pursuant to this chapter. The Committee may adopt rules and regulations regarding proper administration of the disability program.
