Text

(a)The State Board of Education, referred throughout this subchapter as “State Board,” consists of 9 members who are citizens of this State andappointed as follows:
(1)The Governor shall appoint, with Senate confirmation, 7 voting members. a. Six of the 7 voting members are appointed for terms of up to 6 years, to ensure that no more than 2 members’ terms expire in the same year. Each of the 6 voting members serves until that member’s successor qualifies. b. One of the 7 voting members is appointed as the President of the State Board and serves at the Governor’s pleasure.
(2)The Governor shall appoint annually 1 nonvoting member who is a former Delaware State Teacher of the Year and employed as a Delaware public school educator. The Teacher of the Year Advisory Board shall provide a
