Text

(1)Except as provided in subsections (i) and (j) of this section and for policies issued after the operative date of this section, no life insurance policy shall be issued or delivered in the District of Columbia unless it contains the following provisions or corresponding provisions which the Commissioner considers at least as favorable to the defaulting or surrendering policyholder as the following provisions;
(i)If the insured defaults on a premium payment after premiums have been paid 1 full year for ordinary insurance or 3 full years for industrial insurance, the company shall grant, upon proper request no later than 60 days after the premium became due, a paid-up nonforfeiture benefit on a plan stipulated in the policy, and the paid-up nonforfeiture benefit shall be effect
