Text

(1)The Commission shall consist of 17 public, voting members appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council, pursuant to § 1-523.01(f)(49) . Public members shall be appointed who have shown dedication to, and knowledge of, the needs of the African-American community, and with due consideration for representation from established public, nonprofit, and volunteer community organizations concerned with African-American communities with low-economic, -education, and -health indicators.
(2)Public members shall serve terms of 3 years; except, that of the initial members, 6 shall be appointed for a term of 3 years, 6 shall be appointed for a term of 2 years, and 5 shall be appointed for a term of 1 year. Public members may be reappointed, but may serve no more than 2 co
