Text
(a)Each page of a nominating petition proposing a candidate for an office to be filled at a regular election shall be submitted to the appropriate town clerk not later than four o'clock p.m. on the ninetieth day preceding the day of such regular election, or to the Secretary of the State not later than four o'clock p.m. on the ninety-seventh day preceding the day of such regular election.
(b)Each page of a nominating petition proposing a candidate for an office to be filled at a special election, except petitions filed under section 9-216 , shall be submitted to the appropriate town clerk not later than four o'clock p.m. on the seventieth day preceding the day of such special election, or to the Secretary of the State not later than four o'clock p.m. on the seventy-seventh day preceding

(a) by substituting “ninetieth day preceding the day of the regular election” for “final day for the filing of primary petitions for municipal offices to be filled at such election pursuant to section 9-405”, effective January 1, 2004, and applicable to primaries and elections held on or after that date; P.A. 23-178 amended Subsec. (a) by changing the deadline for submission to the Secretary from 90 days preceding a regular election to 97 days preceding such regular election, amended Subsec. (b) by changing the deadline for submission to the Secretary from 70 days preceding a special election to 77 days preceding such special election and made technical changes, effective June 28, 2023.
